Today I’m making a simple card using Gerda Steiner Designs Brand New Stamp set Heavy Friends. These are her Newest Collection and this is such a versatile stamp set, I just Love them. I’ve used the Elephant last week and made my Daughter’s birthday invitations and today I’ll be using the Whale to make a Thank You card. I’ve used the Simon Says Stamp Wave stencil and made my water background. I used Tumble glass, Salty Ocean, and Chipped Sapphire and blended these using a mini blending tool. I also splashed some water on the distressed water background to give more water texture and I cut the top of it to make the wave.
I also had a Black frame cut which will be going on top of the card panel and I popped it up using some foam dimentionals. I stamped out the whale using Momento tuxedo black ink and fussy cut it out and colored it using my Copic markers. I’ve used my warm greys W5, W3 and W1. I also popped up the whale on top of my water I created and stamped out the sentiment that says Thanks a ton. Today I wanted to share with you guys this Haul form Joann.com. These were purchases I made a while back when they had 50% off on all their stamping supplies and additional 25% off. It was a pretty great deal that I just couldn’t pass up. I got all these supplies at a very low cost. Although it take around 3 weeks for the items to reach me, I guess some sales are worth waiting for.
They normally don’t carry Brand New products that just hit the market but I did find some great finds.

Today I’m bringing you something a little different. I made My First art journal page video!! I was doing some art journals on the side, playing around with different mediums, doing some doodling, watercoloring and things and I finally decided to make one on Film. This was a big jump for me and something completely different than my normal card making. What better way to start by Dedicating this page to my 2 daughters that had their Birthdays in March. My oldest daughter turned 21 and my youngest daughter turned 5. Those are the numbers you see on the balloons.
I cut out the Balloons and also used 2 cupcakes as my Focal points and I just started the process from there. Once I decided on my focal images, it was pretty easy from there. Unlike card making, I didn’t have to worry about the recipient liking the card I made for them so this was more on the Freestyle. It was so much fun making it that I think I want to make another one already, lol. By the way, this art journal style was highly inspired by Vicky from Clipncuts. I’m sure you guys have seen her Amazing work and I’ll leave a link below to her channel below if you want to check it out. She does Stunning work and I learned a lot from her in both card making and Art journals.
I feel that my art journals are more geared towards card maker style. What I mean by that is, because I make a lot of cards, my art journals are more on the same level. Today I made a card for The Tupelo Designs LLC’s DT Project using the New Alte New Stamp set, Painted Butterflies. This is a very Beautiful stamp set that basically does all the work for you. This is also a 3 Step stamp set which means there’s different layers that can go on top of each other to create this multi colored painted look. This is a very popular set so it might be sold out but at Tupelo Designs LLC, you can Pre-order them so you’ll have yours as soon as it becomes available. And you know how Fast Their shipping is, Amazing! I’m also using another New stamp set from Impressions Obsessions which also can be Pre-ordered. It’s a distress brick wall, and it has so much texture, it’s really cool. I’m using a lot of New products today, I might as well play with them all at once, right? Lol
For my card base, I have a top folding A2 size card stock which is Neenah, by the way. I also cut another white card stock measuring 4″x%5 1/4″ and another cut using the MFT’s stitched rectangle die. I’m going to make my own background paper using the Obsessions Impression’s Background stamp inked up with Tim Holtz distress mini ink pad. I do have the whole collection of the full size ink pads which I still use, but sometimes the little ones are just easier. I stamped out the brick wall and put it aside and will work on our focal panel. I stamped out the Thank you sentiment using the same Alte New stamp set and I stamped out one of the butterflies using the New Cracked Pistachio and Peacock feathers. The 2nd butterfly was stamped using the New Abandoned coral and Festive berries. I also stamped out a small butterfly using the same abandoned coral. After doing so, I attached some Cartwright Moonshine sequins and added some Wink of Stella clear pens on the butterflies for the finishing touch. It’s super easy and simple but it looks like you took a while to make this card. I do have a full tutorial on my Youtube Channel with more description of this 3 step stamping. Today I’m doing a Haul video with Stampin Up and Markerpop along with my New Glue gun helper kit. I ordered more of the Stampin Up’s New Designer Series Paper. Now I can make more options for the DSP sampler packs. I also got the In-Color Stitched Ribbon to include in the packs, so check back often to see the all the sampler packs you can purchase. From Markerpop, I ordered Copic Various ink refills for some of my most often used Copic colors. I also ordered MFT Stiches Die and the Greeting Farms Magical Stamp set. It took a very long time to receive this marker pop order because the MFT and the Greeting fan stamp was on backordered. I love to order from marker pop but when you purchase backorder items, you will not receive your whole order until they receive the backorder items. Which sucks because you have to wait a long time to get your stuff. Anyways, I am excited about my New Glue gun helper kit. I think it’s cool. I’ll probably use it a lot.
