Aloha Guys!
Today i’m here with Tupelo Designs LLC and I have an Art Journal for Beginners. I say for beginners because I am also a newbie with mixed media, so hopefully you can pick up some tips along the way. I’m going to try my best to create 1 Journal/Mixed Media a Month. Let me know in the comment, if you like that idea. My inspiration came from a quote I found on Pinterest, which said ‘If kisses are were Snowflakes, I’d send you a Blizzard’. I absolutely love this quote and inspired me to create this page, filled with snow and snowflakes. Since I’m still new to mixed media, not everything turned out as perfect as I planned. There were some trials and errors along the way, and I hope this helps you if you are new to this as well 🙂
I’ve used tons of different products for this journal, and I think that’s the fun behind it. Using different mediums to create multiple layers. As a card maker, I kind of had to think outside the box. Meaning in card making, there’s only so much layers you can add before making the card look cluttered. In mixed media, you can add layer over layers to create added interest and that’s what I’m beginning to understand. I also get to use variety of products, that I normally wouldn’t use for card making and that’s always fun.
For this page, I made the snowman and the snowflakes my focal point, along with the quote of course. I wanted to create a beautiful Blizzard of snowflakes for the snowman to send. That’s when I realized, I didn’t have any snowflake stencils. So I just used one of my snowflake die from my stash and created my own stencil, just using paper. I used Rangers texture paste to create dimension to some of my snowflakes, leaving enough room for my book page snowflakes. I’ve used some Gelatos, paints, stamps, inks, sprays, etc…
I cut out my snowman and some additional snowflakes from an old book page. You can view the step by step video up above. I tried my best to film as much as I can and I hope this helps you if you are new like myself 🙂
I appreciate you for stopping by and please subscribe, follow and comment. It’ll help me out a lot! Thanks again. All the supplies will be linked below, if you’re interested in any of the products I used today. Thanks again and see you soon 🙂
